appeals. Lead counsel for a group of property owners in a case
resolving competing claims by government entities and landowners to
water rights in the Imperial Valley.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE
- Practiced complex, commercial litigation and appeals in state and federal
courts across the country, second-chairing civil trials, and performing all
aspects of civil discovery and motions practice. These cases involved
issues like fraud, breach of contract, joint venture disputes, premises
liability, wrongful termination of employment, promissory estoppel, 10b5
violations, the 1940 Investment Company Act, corporate governance,
legal malpractice, and commercial landlord-tenant disputes. In addition, I
was lead counsel in a Winstar case before the United States Court of
Federal Claims from 1998 through 2001. My clients included:
corporations, banks, holding companies, entrepreneurs, a political party,
and landlords. My opponents included entities like: TRW, KPMG, the
UAW, Siemens, law firms, and the federal government.
- Advised clients in corporate, banking, and transactional work.
- Managed civil litigation of commercial transactions, employment
disputes, and family law; and performed estate planning and probate.
- Team taught California community property law.
- Selected as one of six students to consult with the government of
Estonia regarding the legal framework for its transition from communism
to capitalism and from rule by law to rule of law. Worked with Estonian
representative to draft antitrust decree and legislation, both of which
were subsequently enacted.
